Self Induced Anxiety Attack

Ok, idiot that I am..I actually gave myself a panic attack and let me tell you, it isn't fun. How did I do it? ...By researching Lasik Eye Surgery. Oh, by the way, did I tell you that I'm extremely squeamish when it comes to needles, knives, incisions and eyeballs? Sure, I can watch some guy get get half his face blown off with a gun but stab him in the eye and I'll freak out on ya.

So anyway, I figure I have to get over this fear if I'm to get my eyes done without fainting under the laser. So I start reading about the procedure...I am uncomfortable but since I'm not puking I continue to read more. I finish and am impressed with myself. Feeling newfound confidence I proceed to find a video of some lady who went through the procedure. For a moment, I question my strength, but I think maybe once I see what actually happens I'll get over my fears. So I download the segment and when it's done, I foolishly start to watch it: I start to get nervous...ok, um did the doctor just cut a flap on the eye...eeeek...my hand goes up to semi block the screen..BUT NO, must continue watching...oh look, doctor starts to lift flap...my hand starts frantically waving in the air ...but musssst goooo onnnn....gasp, aggh.ughh..hey it's over and it wasn't that bad!!! I'm pretty impressed that I watched it so I decide to continue my research.

Anxiety Part 2

Eventually I find some guy who wrote about his experience and as I was reading it I started feeling dizzy and lightheaded. My stomach also began to hurt so I stumbled to the washroom but found that I could barely stay on the toilet as my head was spinning and my vision fading. OMG then I started to hyperventilate and felt like blowing major chunks. I was going to pass out so I had to lie down immediately before I fainted in the washroom. So here I was, lying on the washroom floor (and believe it or not, this is not the first time) , shaking as my whole body broke out into a major sweat. After laying there for 2 minutes, I knew I couldn't let anyone find me sleeping on the bathroom floor..so I got up and ran to the couch and flopped down. I continued to hyperventilate and sweat and feel like an idiot. Finally, after 5 minutes I was starting to feel normal again. SHEEEIT..what the f*#k happened?

According to Web MD, I had a panic attack and its symptons include a pounding heart (Check), nausea or diarrhea (Check), sweating, trembling or shaking (Check), numbness or tingling (Check), problems with breathing (shortness of breath) (Check), feeling dizzy or lightheaded (Check).
I cannot believe I gave myself a panic attack from watching and reading about Lasik. I refuse to give up though. I'm going to get rid of these contacts/glasses dammit!!!
